The idea of going abroad for an extended period of time can be both exciting and relatively frightening, yet it was an idea I always dreamt of experiencing. When browsing potential programs, the Genoa program stuck out like a sore thumb—not only because of the low program cost or the thought of all of the potential lustfully delicious food possibilities available for my consumption in Italy, but also because of the program itself. Italian history and sociology are two topics that I find fascinating, and the opportunity to study them in the actual location where it all took place was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. In Genoa, the apartments were insanely beautiful, centrally located with enough closet space for even the most lavish of travelers; you would think you were on an episode of MTV “Cribs,” Italian edition! To say I was pleased with my classmates and professors is an understatement. I met some of the most amazing individuals with whom I still maintain friendships. Professor Fasce (Italian history) and Professor Cavilieri (Italian language, which who, by the way, prefers to be on a first-name basis with his students) were two of the best professors I have ever had the luck to be taught by. Overall, studying abroad in Genoa was one of the most enriching experiences of my life to date, and definitely recommend studying abroad in Europe to everyone!
