"WWI Commemoration: One Hundred Years After - An FIU Panel Discussion"
This faculty panel will tackle questions related to the Great War, which began in 1914, one hundred years ago today. By exploring the historical roots and contemporary ramifications of the Great War, the speakers will provide a number of interdisciplinary perspectives on the experiences of war, from the question of everyday life and food to how the war was remembered. We will also get an introduction to the visual culture and propaganda arts of the war era as well as a thematic preview of the forthcoming exhibition at the Wolfsonian Museum exhibition of the First World War, entitled "Myth and Machine; The First World War in Visual Culture" opening later this fall.
