Recent events in Ukraine – from the crowds of people pouring onto Kiev’s Maidan Square, to Viktor Yanukovych’s ouster to Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Crimea – have caused alarm across Europe, the United States and beyond. The days ahead remain tense as the EU, US, Ukrainian and Russian politicians, diplomats and members of civil society attempt to resolve the conflict while pursuing their own interests. In Fall 2014, the MEUCE in collaboration with the Europe Student Association is screening a series of films. "Nous nous sommes tant hais" (How we hated each other!), is a Franco-Austrian film, where the action takes place in France and Germany in 1950, which re-enacts the birth of the European Union.
