The Liszt Festival sponsored by the South Florida Chapter of the American Liszt Society at FIU, is dedicated to advancing knowledge about the great Hungarian pianist and composer Franz Liszt. Special Guest musicologist Dr. Jonathan Kregor of the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and Editor of the Journal of the American Liszt Society will provide Commentary about this often misunderstood genius.

Program:

Saturday, Oct. 19 - 7:30 p.m. Organist Kamilla Szklarska and FIU pianists Kendal Gekic and Jose Lopez join celebrated conductor Grzegorz Nowak and the FIU String Orchestra in lieder, solo and orchestral works by Wagner, Alkan and Liszt

Sunday, Oct. 20 - 4:00 p.m. Miami International Piano favorite Kemal Gekic joins the Greater Miami Youth Orchestra, conducted by Huifang Chen, in a program of original orchestral works and piano transcriptions by Berlioz, Liszt and Wagner.
